Item #032. A matched pair of heavily patinated bracket style late Mississippian culture ear pins from Southeast MO, each measuring about 1 13/16" long, with the heads measuring about 1 1/4" wide.

Item #012. A pair of Mississippian Shell Ear Pins
Found in Hancock County, Georgia on a Early mound site on Shoulder Bone Creek. A most unusual pair of Shell ear pins. They were made from the central stem of an Ocean Whelk Conch shell, but rather than being round, they were worked flat. An extremely rare form. They measure: 2 1/4", and 2 1/8" long. Item #033. A superb matched pair of lightly patinated Museum grade Shell Hair Pins, one measuring 5" long, and the other 4 1/2" long, recovered near the lower Chattahoochie River in extreme Southern Alabama. Early Spanish items found associated with these ornaments were scissors, and copper C bracelets, which will put them in the late 1500's - early 1600 time period. One of them has a green copper stain on it from being in contact with the copper C bracelets. Pictured in Hoff's book: "Shell Artifacts- with an emphasis on Southeastern collections". Item #212.  A beautiful matched pair of Bracket style Mississippian Shell Ear Ornaments  measuring 2 1/4" long and 1 1/4" wide.  They were found by the legendary Arnold Moore at Carson Lake, Poinsette County, Arkansas. They are heavily patinated, and in perfect condition.  Certificate of Authenticity:  Jerry Dickey   #09-0766.

Item #015. A very fine pair of Shell ear pins from Mason County, Kentucky, with the longest measuring 3 1/2" long. Certificate of Authentication: #18745 Bill Jackson of Jackson Galleries.

Item #013. A matched pair of small, heavily patinated Mississippian period shell ear plugs, each measuring 1 3/8" long, and 5/8" wide. Found in Crittenden County, Arkansas by Preston Crumb, a share-cropper who made extra money digging artifacts many years ago. These were purchased from him in 1959 by Charles Wesley, who was a three time office holder of President of the Missouri Archaeological Society.

Item #039. A matched pair of bracket type Shell Ear Pins, from Murray County, Georgia, the longest measuring 1 3/8" and is 1" wide across the top. The bracket style ear pins are said to be a later style than the longer bulbous head pins commonly associated with earlier Mississippian sites.

Item #128. A matched pair of Mississippian Shell Ear Pins measuring 3 3/4" long each. They were found in Cherokee County, North Carolina at the Peachtree Mound site, and are heavily patinated. They are made from the central column of an ocean whelk conch shell.

Item #189. A Matched pair of mushroom style Mississippian shell ear pins each are drilled, each measuring 1 1/4" tall. Baxter Farm site , Murrary County, GA. 1250AD.

Item # 208.  A very small pair of heavily patinated ear ornaments each measuring ¾" by ½". They are drilled through from the ends. These were found in association with a shell bead necklace and shell bead bracelet at the Big Eddy site in St Francis County, Arkansas many years ago.

Item #011. A superb Mississippian period Shell Ear Ornament of high quality from Tennessee. It measures above average in length at 4 9/16" long, with the head being 13/16" wide. Perfect. Certificate of Authenticity: Tom Davis, #48706 Grade 10

Item #016. A matched pair of heavily patinated Shell Ear Pins each measuring about 3 3/4" long. They are made from the central column of an ocean whelk or conch shell. They were found at the Peachtree Mound site Cherokee County, NC long before it was designated a National Historic Site.They are attributed to the Mississippian Cultural period circa 1350AD. Item #82. A Mississippian culture Woodpecker Motif Shell Spoon measuring 3 7/8" wide, and 2 1/2" tall, still having excellent preservation on the inside surface. Several former collection tag numbers adhere to the moderately patinated back surface. A very small piece has been glued back in place at the tip. A nice example of a hard to get item. Mississippi County, Arkansas.  Certificate of Authenticity:  Jerry Dickey  #09-0767.

Item #SP61. A huge Mississippian Shell Ear Pin measuring 5 7/8" long, and the bulb measuring 1 1/4" wide. It was cleanly snapped about 1" from the tip and professionally repaired by Dr. Gomer. A beautiful, very large authentic example.

Item #213.  A heavily patinated Mississippian Bird Effigy shell spoon (800AD - 1450AD)  having been drilled for suspension. It measures about 3" long and 3" tall, and has some working edge wear damage as is typical of specimens of this type. Found on Williams Island, Tennessee.  Certificate of Authenticity:  Jerry Dickey  #09-0769.

Item #LH541.  A Mussell shell spoon with carved design on handle area, and having a drilled hole for suspension. It has a small area of damage on the working edge as is typical of these implements. This spoon is pictured in Lar Hothem's book "Antler, Bone, And Shell Artifacts" on page 311.  Middle Mississippi River Valley. Item #STE3.  A cache of 3 rare Shell Bear Claw Effigy Pendants. They are each drilled for suspension and measure 3", 2 1/4", and 2" long. They were found by Jim Butler in Sumter Co.TN. Former John H Beyes collection.

Item #157. A wolf/canine incisor effigy shell pendant, drilled for suspension, and measuring 1 5/8" long. It is a complete and undamaged specimen that exhibits moderate ground patina. Found on the Poarch Farm site in Gordon County, Georgia. Certificate of Authenticity: Alton Martin # 0327
