The Gorgets and Pendants of Tick Island, Florida  500BC - 800AD

Many of Florida's early inhabitants lived along the St. John's River in Volusia County. One of these ancient cultural groups resided on Tick Island during the transitional St. John's I period 500BC-800AD, and produced unique pottery gorgets and pendants.

A rare St John's paste pottery 2 hole Tick Island, Florida gorget measuring 2" tall and 3 1/4" wide.   $325.

A rare 2 hole Tick Island Florida Pottery Gorget measuring 3 9/16" long, and 1 7/16" wide. It is predominantly white in color on the front, and a mottled black and white fire marks on the reverse concave side.   $325.

A rare St John's Paste 2 hole pottery gorget measuring 2 5/8" tall and 2 5/8" wide. This shape and hole arrangement are practically unseen in pottery gorgets from Florida.   $300.

A large single hole Pottery Pendant measuring a fairly symmetrical 2 1/2"diameter. It is the classic Gray/white in color and is moderately large for specimen type.  $90.

A moderately large Tick Island single hole Pottery Pendant measuring 2 1/2" tall, and 2 3/4" wide. The frontal face is black and white in color with the reverse side being mottled light buff.  $70.

Another finely made pottery pendant measuring measuring  2 7/8" X 2 5/8".
It has a hole drilled in the center, and seems to be fabricated from shell tempered pottery rather than the common St. John's paste. It  has been in the river a long time, as it is heavily river stained.  A beautiful example of an early Florida pendant. $100.00

A rare Pottery Pipe from Tick Island, St. John's River, Volusia County, Florida. It is made of St. John's Paste as are the gorgets and pendants of the same cultural period. It was found broken in half, and has been put back together. 
It measures 6 1/2" long.  Just not many of these around anymore. $200.00
